Robin first played golf in China
at Chung Shan Hot Spring in
1985. His next game in China
came a year later in the Valley
of the Ming Tombs outside
Beijing at the newly opened
Beijing International.
Though he probably
played his usual
lackluster game, his
understanding of golf in China was imbued with a sense of history.
In the course of “researching” this book, Moyer logged tens of thousands of kilometers over a year of traveling around China.
“We have only scratched the surface of what is potentially a great golfing nation. Our impression is that part of the game’s popularity is due to its capacity to rise above mundane issues and, though it owes its birth to the hot growth of the economy, its appeal will survive any hiccups in the future.”
Longevity is a concept well understood in China. Though golf there is yet a youth, we can see a day when it will be regarded with veneration.
We hope you enjoy reading The Great Golf Courses of China and that you will be inspired to visit as many of China’s great courses as you can. |
